By marque car brand standards, Ferrari had a stellar 2021. A few days ago, the Italian carmaker announced that it sold 11,115 supercars in 2021, a new record achieved despite the global pandemic, supply chain issues and attendant economic effects. The sales were primarily driven by strong interest in the F8 Tributo and Roma models. It more than offset the drop in demand for the V12 flagships (due to the 812 Superfast being phased out during the 2021 calendar year). Sales of the hybrid SF90 Stradale have also been encouraging and should be even better in 2022 with the addition of the SF90 Spider to the lineup.
The biggest news for the Prancing Horse brand in 2022, though, has to be the hotly anticipated release of its first-ever SUV. Ferrari arrived late to the performance SUV party but better late than never. After all, it had earlier sworn never to deviate from its supercar heritage. The SUV dubbed the Purosangue will enter the market as a direct rival to the wildly successful Lamborghini Urus - a mouth-watering match-up that we can't wait for.
Returnees to the 2022 roster remain fundamentally unchanged, with such models as the Portofino, F8 Tributo, 812 GTS, and SF90 Stradale, each bringing their unique flair and interpretations of the Ferrari experience to the table. Then you have a newcomer to the exclusive Icona series, Ferrari's blend of past heritage and cutting-edge automotive technology.
