Xavi maintains Barcelona's tough stance on Dembele

Barcelona mentor Xavi Hernandez said on Saturday the club would not mellow their position on Ousmane Dembele's agreement circumstance, in spite of the Frenchman's furious riposte via web-based media on Thursday. Dembele composed he would not "yield to coerce" after Xavi avoided him with regard to his crew to confront Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night, following a breakdown in talks over another arrangement. The winger's agreement lapses in the mid year, when he will actually want to leave Barcelona free of charge.

"We are attempting to acquire players. We'll see what we can do," Xavi said.


With Dembele banished, Barcelona might have managed without Ansu Fati getting a hamstring injury against Athletic on Thursday, with reports recommending the 19-year-old could be out for a long time.


Fati has just barely returned following two months out harmed, having returned September following 10 months missing with a knee issue.
